Create and publish your first QR code

Pick the content type, choose dynamic mode unless you have a reason not to, style the code, publish it, then scan the real export with a real phone before it goes anywhere.

Steps

1. Create a new code and pick what it carries — a URL, a PDF, Wi-Fi credentials, a vCard or plain text.
2. Choose dynamic if the destination might ever change, or if you want scan analytics. Static codes can do neither.
3. Style it if you need to, keeping the modules dark on a light background.
4. Publish the code. Until it is published a dynamic code has no destination to serve.
5. Export it — SVG or PDF for print, PNG for screens — and scan that exported file.

How to check it worked

Scan the exported file with a phone that has never opened the destination before, on mobile data rather than your office Wi-Fi. It should land on the right page over HTTPS with no warning.

What usually goes wrong

• Testing the on-screen preview instead of the exported file.
• Forgetting to publish, so the code resolves to nothing.
• Choosing static, then discovering the destination has to change.
