Folders and tags

A code sits in one folder and can carry several tags. Folders suit places and objects — a venue, a product line; tags suit the things that cut across them, usually campaigns.

Steps

  1. Create folders and tags in Settings → Folders & tags. Press a name to rename it; × removes it.
  2. Move a code into a folder from the editor: ⋯ → Move to folder.
  3. Tag a code from the editor: ⋯ → Move to folder, pick tags under Tags and press Save tags. A CSV import can tag many codes at once with a tags column.
  4. Filter the dashboard by folder with All folders.

How to check it worked

Filtered by the folder, the dashboard shows exactly the codes you moved into it.

What usually goes wrong

  • Worrying that removing a folder deletes codes. It does not: its codes move to the top level.
  • Removing a tag you still need. It comes off every code that carried it.
  • Using folders to keep a client’s work private. Every member sees every folder.
