Workspace and team

Roles and what each one can do

Mosaqo workspaces have five roles — owner, admin, editor, analyst and viewer — running from full control to read-only. Give the narrowest role that lets someone do their job, and reserve owner for the person accountable for the workspace.

Steps

  1. Give editor to people who create and publish codes.
  2. Give analyst to people who need the numbers but should not change a live destination.
  3. Give viewer to anyone who only needs to look.
  4. Keep admin for the small group managing membership, and owner for one accountable person.
  5. Review the list when someone changes team or leaves.

How to check it worked

Ask the person to attempt the action they need. A role that is too narrow shows a permission error rather than failing silently.

What usually goes wrong

  • Everyone made an admin, so a live destination can be changed by accident.
  • An analyst blocked from work they are actually responsible for.
  • Ownership sitting with someone who has left.
